The Los Angeles Lakers have recalled Bronny James from the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G League following a strong performance against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Sunday, where he scored 15 points, grabbed one rebound, and dished out two assists, sinking three three-point shots in a 113-104 victory.
James’s recall comes after the Lakers secured a 110-97 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday night, a game he did not participate in due to his G League assignment. The team also announced the return of second-round draft pick Adou Thiero to the senior team.
During his time with the South Bay Lakers, James has averaged 15.3 points on 53.6% shooting from the field, and 40.0% from three-point range, playing 25.9 minutes per game. He also averaged 3.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals in his ten G League appearances this season. This represents a significant increase in performance compared to his rookie season.
Through 31 appearances with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2025-26 season, the 21-year-old James has averaged 2.1 points, 1.2 assists, and 0.5 rebounds per game, shooting 39.7% from the field and 41.4% from three-point range. This is an improvement over his rookie season, where he averaged 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists across 27 games, shooting 31.3% from the field and 28.1% from three-point range.
The Lakers will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, and while James has been recalled, it remains uncertain whether he will spot playing time. His contract for the 2026-27 season is only partially guaranteed, leaving his future with the team subject to evaluation.
