Bathtub Through Windshield: Lisa Tønne’s Wild Ride & Raw Honesty

A comedian and podcaster, Lisa Tønne, was struck in the windshield of her car by a bathtub and toilet that fell from a vehicle ahead on the E6 highway, according to reports surfacing this week. The incident, which occurred even as Tønne was traveling with her children shortly before Christmas, left her shaken but unharmed.

“It sounds crazy, but I got a fucking bathtub and a toilet right in the front windshield,” Tønne recounted in a recent interview with Dagbladet. Airbags deployed immediately, and while the car sustained significant damage, Tønne and her children were uninjured. The vehicle in front of hers had improperly secured the bathroom fixtures, which became dislodged as it accelerated.

The incident occurred on March 21, 2026, according to Dagbladet, and has prompted questions about vehicle safety and cargo security. A previous incident involving Tønne’s vehicle, reported by Motor in 2021, revealed that Bilia, a car dealership, failed to disclose prior collision damage when selling her a Toyota RAV4. That vehicle had been involved in a similar incident, colliding with a bathtub and toilets on the E6 highway.

Tønne, known for her candid commentary in the podcast she co-hosts with Sigrid Bonde Tusvik, has been publicly grappling with a range of issues, including a recent health scare and societal concerns. She recently discussed the incident and her broader outlook in an interview, expressing frustration with societal issues and the behavior of those in power.

“The time of narcissists and psychopaths,” Tønne stated, “and they don’t just reach in the form of heads of state, they can also be right here among us. We have to dare to talk about that loudly.” She also emphasized the importance of speaking out against injustice, referencing the #MeToo movement and the need to support survivors of abuse.

Tønne’s personal history includes a challenging early life. She was adopted from Iran as an infant and spent the first five months of her life with limited physical contact, a circumstance she believes has impacted her ability to form attachments. “I gave myself skin contact, because that’s a survival strategy,” she explained. She also underwent surgery for a brain tumor thirteen years ago, which left her with partial facial paralysis, requiring Botox treatments.

Currently, Tønne is preparing for her solo show, “Elsk meg i plenum” (Love Me in Plenum) at Oslo Nye, where she shares her life story. She expressed anxiety about completing the show, but ultimately found strength in adversity. “I have good training in turning shit into gold,” she said.

Following an interview, Tønne was approached by a fan in Oslo who praised her work and outspokenness, stating she “calibrates the entire society.” Tønne responded with a smile and a wave, acknowledging the support.
