The Hangzhou Cityfootball League championship will be decided this Saturday at 2 pm at the Shangcheng Sports Center, as the Fuyang team faces off against the Yuhang team for the coveted trophy.
The path to the final for Fuyang was cemented on July 27th, 2025, with a decisive victory over the Shangcheng Team in the Hangzhou Division of the Zhejiang Basketball Association City League (ZheBA), winning with a score of 89-61. That win secured Fuyang’s position as champions of the Hangzhou division, a result described as a “high-energy final” with over 4,000 spectators in attendance, according to reports from the Hangzhou government website.
Fuyang’s journey to the ZheBA Hangzhou Division championship included a 69-58 semi-final win against Xiaoshan, where Sun Jianghao was named MVP after scoring 16 points. The Shangcheng team advanced to the final after defeating Linan 78-52, with Chen Yang leading their scoring efforts. The semi-final games were described as “epic” and a “battle between fire and ice.”
Following the Hangzhou Division win, eleven champion teams from various districts and cities were set to participate in a municipal league, forming a total of twenty-two teams competing for the city championship. The event, initially scheduled to continue until February 2026, now culminates this Saturday with the Cityfootball League final.
The ZheBA tournament was launched to promote grassroots basketball throughout Zhejiang province. The Fuyang team’s success has been attributed to “sharp tactics and cohesive team play,” including strong defensive strategies against opposing top scorers.
