Twenty-one horses are set to compete in the Mouse Trap Bar & Bridge House Bar Pre Race Party Maiden Hurdle at Cork racecourse in Ireland this Thursday, March 19, 2026. The race, scheduled to begin at 3:32 PM local time, will cover a distance of two miles and four furlongs on a yielding turf surface.
Among the contenders, Captains Speech, a six-year-old gelding trained by Henry de Bromhead, is listed at 2/1. The horse secured an effortless win in its sole point start in April 2024, with subsequent competitors achieving success under Rules. Royal Gladiator, also at 2/1 and trained by Ian Donoghue, is another favored runner. Speculateur, a French import trained by Gordon Elliott, is priced at 5/2.
The race offers a total prize fund of €12,000, with the winner receiving €7,200, second place €2,399, third place €1,200, and fourth place €600. The going at Cork is currently reported as yielding, with patches of yielding to soft ground.
Several horses are making their hurdles debuts, including Acheron, trained by J.J. Hanlon, and Bruise Hill, trained by W.J. Burke. Le Roi Du Livet, trained by P. Fenton, previously demonstrated promising form with a third-place finish in a Naas maiden hurdle in January. Mor Go Leor, a twelve-year-old gelding, is also entered, trained by P.M. Verling.
Jackmoon, trained by J.P. Flavin, has shown below-fair bumper form and was pulled up at Punchestown in December. Other notable entries include Spanish Hero, trained by D.H. Kelly, and Toms One Of Many, trained by P.W. Flynn. The official winning time for a similar race held at the course was recorded as 5 minutes and 12 seconds.
