Houston Pediatric Neurologist Charged with Invasive visual Recording
Dr. Alexander G. Ankar, 33, of Houston, faces a charge of invasive visual recording following an incident at Texas Children’s Hospital, according to court records. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
Ankar, formerly an assistant professor of pediatric neurology at Baylor Collage of Medicine, was employed there from 2018 until his resignation on August 28th. He also had a position at Texas Children’s Hospital, but is no longer affiliated with the organization.
The alleged incident occurred on August 22nd while an interpreter was training new employees at the hospital. A trainee observed Ankar with his cell phone as he walked behind the interpreter in a hallway. The trainee reported seeing Ankar kneel with the phone’s camera pointed upwards.
After being informed by the trainee, the interpreter confirmed Ankar had been holding a phone and observed him placing it on a table. the interpreter afterward told investigators she felt unsafe working with Ankar and expressed discomfort wearing skirts.
While the hallway lacked security cameras, investigators reviewed footage from a nearby area showing Ankar reviewing content on his phone shortly after the reported incident.
Following an interview with Baylor’s legal team, Ankar resigned. During that interview, he admitted to taking a photograph up the interpreter’s skirt while she was bending over, court records state.
Ankar received his physician-in-training permit in 2019 and his medical licence in 2023,according to the Texas Medical Board. Records indicate he has no prior criminal history in Harris county and has never been subject to disciplinary action by the Texas Medical Board.
