Lewandowski Asked Birthday Guests for €50 Contributions, new Book Reveals
Warsaw, Poland – A forthcoming biography of Robert lewandowski details an incident where the FC Barcelona striker allegedly requested guests at his birthday party contribute at least 50 euros each, sparking debate about his spending habits. The revelation comes from journalist Sebastian Staszewski’s book, “Lewandowski. True,” set for release in November, and was discussed in a recent interview with Rymanowski on YouTube.
Staszewski, who interviewed Lewandowski for the book, recounted a conversation about perceptions of the footballer’s frugality. “I asked him if he was stingy – Many peopel say yes. Robert replied that he was not stingy, but he was not wasteful,” Staszewski explained. Lewandowski reportedly stated he sometimes re-gifts items he has previously received, a practice some find “cringe,” according to the journalist.
The book details a specific instance where Lewandowski allegedly made the request for financial contributions at his own birthday festivity. “There was a situation where he said at a birthday party: at least 50 euros,” Staszewski stated. When questioned about the incident, Lewandowski reportedly told Staszewski, “You know, I don’t feel that wasting a hundred zlotys is any different from wasting a million zlotys. I don’t like wasting money.”
The anecdote has resurfaced discussions about Lewandowski’s character, initially described as hard-working, modest, and talented since the start of his professional career in 2005.Earlier controversies, such as a public dispute with his former manager Cezary Kucharski, have previously offered glimpses into a more complex personality.
Lewandowski will next play for FC Barcelona against Celta Vigo on Sunday, November 9, in a La Liga match.
