Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs Misses Oasis Tour Due to Prostate Cancer

Oasis ⁤guitarist Paul “bonehead” arthurs ​has ⁢announced he will miss upcoming ​concerts in Asia ⁣and Australia ⁤as⁢ he undergoes ⁤treatment for prostate cancer, diagnosed earlier this year.The 60-year-old founding member of the band will not perform at⁣ shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and ⁤Sydney.

Arthurs shared⁤ on X (formerly Twitter) that he is responding well to initial treatment and is now‌ moving to a⁣ second phase of care. “Early this year I was diagnosed⁣ with prostate​ cancer,” he stated. “The good news is I’m responding really well to ‍treatment, which meant⁤ I⁣ could⁤ be part of this remarkable tour. now,‍ I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul,⁤ Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. I’m really sad to⁢ be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go⁢ in‌ time for‌ South America.”

The affected dates are Seoul ⁢(October 21), Tokyo (October ‌25-26), Melbourne (October 31, November 1 and 4), and Sydney (November⁢ 7-8). Arthurs anticipates rejoining the tour for the South American leg ‌in November.

This is not⁢ the first time ‍Arthurs has faced‍ a cancer diagnosis; in 2022, ⁤he revealed he was ⁣being treated for⁢ tonsil cancer,​ stating at the time, “Just to let you all⁤ know I’m going to⁣ be⁢ taking a break from playing for ‌a⁤ while. I have been diagnosed with tonsil cancer. But⁢ the good ⁢news is it’s⁣ treatable and⁢ I will be ‌starting ⁣a course ⁢of treatment soon. I ⁤will keep you‍ posted how ⁣it ⁤is indeed going.”

Arthurs was a member ⁤of the band the Rain with Liam gallagher in the early ​1990s before‍ Noel Gallagher joined and‍ the band became ‍Oasis. He played on ‍three of Oasis’s most successful albums‌ – Definitely Maybe,⁣ (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, and standing on the Shoulder of Giants – before departing during the recording of⁣ the latter in 1999.⁢

Following his ‌time ⁤with Oasis, Arthurs joined Liam Gallagher’s band beady Eye from 2013-2014 and has frequently performed with Gallagher during his solo career, including at the Reading and Leeds festivals in 2021. He⁣ also formed the group Parlour Flames and worked as a radio ​DJ.
