Skellefteå’s Pierre Johnsson Removes Contract Clause,No Longer a Candidate for Luleå Head Coaching Role

Luleå,Sweden – Pierre Johnsson,assistant coach for skellefteå AIK,has removed a clause from his contract that would have allowed him to explore coaching opportunities for the upcoming season,effectively ending his candidacy for the vacant head coach position with Luleå Hockey,according to a report from Expressen.

Johnsson confirmed to Expressen that the clause has been removed from his agreement with Skellefteå. “We agreed a while ago. There is no reason for me to lie or hide it. The papers are written and no clause is there,” he stated. This advancement closes a potential avenue for Luleå, who are seeking a replacement for Thomas “Bulan” Berglund after this season. Luleå General Manager thomas Fröberg confirmed Johnsson is no longer under consideration, stating, “Correct. Pierre is no longer relevant on the list of candidates.”

Johnsson has served as an assistant coach with Skellefteå since 2021, briefly assuming co-head coaching responsibilities last season following the dismissal of Robert ohlsson. He currently assists head coach Daniel Hermansson. the 41-year-old signed a contract extension with Skellefteå in the fall of 2023, which now includes two remaining seasons.

The removal of the clause signals Johnsson’s commitment to remaining with Skellefteå, stating, “Exactly. It is indeed a straight agreement and it feels very good.” Luleå will now continue their search for a new head coach from among othre potential candidates.
