Jamie Oliver Details Moment Wife jools Threatened to Leave Him, Couple Renew Vows in Maldives
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver revealed in a new interview that his wife, Jools oliver, once threatened to leave him, a moment he described as a turning point in their relationship. The couple recently reaffirmed their commitment to each other with a vow renewal ceremony in the Maldives, celebrating 23 years of marriage in front of their five children.
Oliver recounted a past period of strain, admitting he was “wholly consumed” by work and neglecting his family. He detailed how Jools expressed her unhappiness, stating she felt he wasn’t present and ultimately threatened to leave if things didn’t change. The chef acknowledged his failings and emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing such issues within a marriage.
The couple, who originally married in June 2000, chose to renew their vows before their children begin to leave home. Jools wore an off-the-shoulder white gown,complemented by floaty white dresses worn by their daughters,Poppy,23,Daisy,12,and Petal,16. Jamie opted for a powder blue suit, mirroring the Maldivian sky.
“Me & @joolsoliver got married again!” Oliver shared on Instagram. “After 23 years together, we thought it would be a special moment to celebrate renewing our wedding vows before the kids all start leaving the nest. it was really special, funny and romantic with the words in the ceremony making more sense having come this far together.”
The ceremony took place at the Discover Soneva resort in the Maldives, which Oliver praised for making the occasion “simply amazing” and “so special and memorable.” He also recalled a lighthearted moment from a past flying lesson, purchased for him as a birthday gift five years prior by Jools, where his instructor abruptly declared, “You on your own, Jack jones,” sending him on his first solo flight after just five take-offs and five landings.
