Zoom Subscription Fees in Indonesia Increase Starting October 1

KOMPAS.com – Subscription fees Zoom in Indonesia, it will increase starting October 1, 2020. This is because Zoom will collect a 10 percent value added tax (VAT) for paying customers in Indonesia.

Previously, the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) had appointed 12 new companies that met the criteria as VAT collectors for digital goods and services sold to customers in Indonesia, one of which was Zoom.

“We hereby inform you that Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (Zoom), starting from or shortly after October 1, 2020, will charge VAT on sales to customers in Indonesia,” Zoom wrote in an e-mail to users.

Please note that charges prior to October 1 will not be affected by this policy.

If the user is registered as a Taxable Entrepreneur (PKP) in Indonesia, the user is asked to fill in a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) along with the full name registered with the Directorate General of Taxes.

How to enter your NPWP is by logging into the Zoom Portal (web browser). Then, click on Account Management on the left menu. Select Billing Information on the top side, then scroll down to the Billing Contact section. The NPWP number is entered in the GST Number column.

Users can also provide an e-mail address registered with DJP. The data will be used for tax credit requirements that will be included on the invoice to be issued to the user.

As an illustration, the subscription fee for Zoom per month starts at US $ 15, or around Rp. 222,000 (the rupiah exchange rate at the time of writing). If you are subject to 10 percent tax, the bill that must be paid will be around IDR 244,000.

There are still other subscription packages, namely the Business and Enterprise packages at a price of 20 US dollars (around Rp. 297,000) per month, before tax.

DGT will continue to add to the list of companies to be appointed as tax collectors in Indonesia. Currently, a total of 28 foreign companies have met the criteria as tax collectors.

Apart from Zoom, 11 other companies selected in the final batch are LinkedIn Singapore Pte. Ltd, McAfee Ireland Ltd, Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd, Mojang AB, Novi Digital Entertainment Pte. Ltd, PCCW Vuclip (Singapore) Pte. Ltd, Skype Communications SARL, Twitter Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, Twitter International Company, PT Jingdong Indonesia Pertama, and PT Shopee International Indonesia.
