N-VA ships Cindy Van Paesschen (45) hands in her party card and will from now on sit as an independent. As a result, the tight coalition of N-VA, Groen and Open Vld loses its majority. Van Paesschen thus acquires a key position in decisions. “But I do not want to become the plaything of the opposition and I am motivated to continue to implement the administrative agreement loyally, as long as I can vote in good conscience without threats and independent of party compulsion.”
