Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, has resigned, reported in “Ukrainska Pravda”.
It is expected that he will be replaced in the post by the head of the military administration of the Kyiv region, Alexei Kuleba.
The governors of Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions are also expected to resign.
Tymoshenko later confirmed the information.
“I thank the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for the trust and the opportunity to do good deeds every day and every minute,” he said in his Telegram post, which included a photo of him with his resignation letter.
According to an investigation by Bihus.info Tymoshenko used for personal purposes a Chevrolet Tahoe donated to him to evacuate civilians from war zones.
He himself claimed to have used it for trips to de-occupied regions.
Several Ukrainian media recently reported that Tymoshenko and another deputy chief of staff of Volodymyr Zelensky, Oleg Tatarov, were about to resign. However, the information about Tatarov’s impending resignation has not yet been confirmed.
Tatarov became a symbol of Zelensky’s tolerance for corruption in his inner circle, as the president has repeatedly refused to fire or remove him from office.
Tatarov was accused of bribery in 2020. However, the case was obstructed by the former chief prosecutor Irina Venediktova, a protégé of Zelensky.
Tymoshenko’s resignation comes a week after another aide to Zelensky – Alexey Arestovich, here you goafter making – in his words – a “serious mistake”.
The reason is that in a video he stated that the Ukrainian military shot down a missile, possibly fired by Russia, which is why it is changed course and eventually struck the residential block in Dnipro, killing dozens of civilians. Arestovic subsequently apologized and retracted his statement.
