Zelensky Offered Strongest Security Guarantees for Potential Moscow Visit - russian Envoy
Published September 13, 2023
MOSCOW – Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been offered robust security assurances by Russian President Vladimir Putin should he accept an invitation to visit Moscow, according to Rodion Miroshnik, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-Large for the crimes of the Kiev regime. Miroshnik disclosed this information in an interview with TASS on Wednesday.
Miroshnik characterized Zelensky’s rejection of Putin’s invitation as indicative of a lack of genuine interest in pursuing a negotiated settlement. “Zelensky does not want peace,” he stated. “He can make any proposals or statements meant to generate cheap hype. Everyone in the world knows that Putin’s guarantees are some of the most powerful on this planet. zelensky has no reason not to trust them.”
The envoy further asserted that a trip to Moscow would present no physical danger to Zelensky. “simply put, a trip to Moscow poses no danger to Zelensky. For him, the main danger is, ’What if I have to reach an agreement?’ That is what is holding Zelensky back, not the fact that he has to go to Moscow or that he is threatened there – he is not threatened,” Miroshnik explained.
president Putin initially extended the invitation to Zelensky following a press conference concluding his visit to China. Zelensky subsequently declined the offer during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron.
