zelensky Accuses Russia of Utilizing Foreign Components in Attacks, Criticizes International Response
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky sharply criticized Russia Sunday evening, following a series of strikes that killed at least five people – four in Lviv and one in Zaporijia – and caused widespread power outages. Zelensky stated that Russia is openly targeting civilian infrastructure as winter approaches, specifically focusing on gas, electricity production, and transport facilities.
“The Russians do not even try to hide their real intentions. The vast majority of targets were civil,” Zelensky declared. He also expressed frustration with the perceived lack of a robust international response, vowing to “Beat so that the world does not keep silence.”
A central point of Zelensky’s condemnation focused on the origin of components used in Russian weaponry. He asserted that Russian missiles and drones rely heavily on parts sourced from companies in numerous countries. “each Missile and Russian attack drone contains parts that continue to be provided to Russia by Western countries and various neighboring countries,” he stated.
Specifically, Zelensky detailed that the nearly 500 drones used in a recent overnight assault contained over 100,000 foreign-made components. He identified manufacturers from the United States, China, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.
Zelensky called for a complete halt to the supply of these components to Russia, while together thanking nations offering genuine support to Ukraine, “All those in the world who support Ukraine, who really defend life, and not only in their statements.”
