“The result of this particular meeting is not high-profile decisions for the media space, but very important conclusions for our society. They sound simple: everything is under control, there is no reason to panic,” Zelensky said.

He noted that Ukraine is working to de-escalate the situation in the east through a peaceful settlement.

“We know about everything, we are ready for anything, we believe in the best and we do absolutely everything that is necessary for this,” the president said.

Zelensky assured that Ukraine “will calmly go through this entire heating season.” According to him, there are enough gas and coal reserves. “At power stations and ports, they have already exceeded 1 million tons,” the president said.

About the situation with COVID-19 he noted that the number of infections is indeed growing, but the level of hospitalizations is almost two times less compared to the peak incidence in the fall of 2021. There is also a much lower mortality rate, only 28% of beds are occupied in medical facilities.

Zelensky noted that the state will continue to stimulate coronavirus vaccination.

He recalled that from today, people over 60 can spend 1,000 hryvnias from the state on the purchase of medicines. During February, it is planned to expand the program – older people will be able to use these funds to pay utility bills.

Also, the program will soon be extended to Ukrainians aged 14-18. “In addition to the basic goals for sports, museums, cinema, theaters, travel and more – they will be able to spend money on education, on educational courses, educational services, etc.” Zelensky said.

In addition, the state intends to encourage the introduction of a booster dose.

“As part of the єPіdtrimka program, more UAH 500 plus for those citizens who will receive the third booster dose vaccinations,” the president said.

According to him, there is every chance to hope that 2022 could be the last year for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Danilov at a briefing after the meeting of the council said that they considered a number of issues, primarily related to priority measures to ensure national security from internal and external threats. At the meeting, the heads of the power bloc, as well as representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, made presentations – they spoke about the state of the economy.

Regarding the threats from Russia, Danilov said: “A lot of paramilitary fiction appears in the media. I would like to appeal to all of you (media representatives – ed.). Friends, colleagues, reduce the existing tension a little. The situation that exists is for us completely understandable. There is no reason for you and me to panic at this time. I would really ask everyone to be calm.”

“We have one country. We are not going to give it away to anyone. Victory will definitely be ours. If necessary, we will all stand shoulder to shoulder in order to protect our country. But today we are not see,” he added.
