Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a video conference with Facebook COO Sherrill Sandberg and Facebook Vice President Nick Clegg. During the conversation, he suggested that they create a Ukrainian representative office of the company. This was announced on Monday, September 27, by the press service of the President’s Office.
It is noted that the president proposed to consider the possibility of opening an office of Facebook in Ukraine.
“We strive to provide the best services and support to our Ukrainian users. This is reflected in various actions of the company, including the recent launch of Facebook AMBER Alert in Ukraine, and we hope to strengthen our cooperation in the future,” Sherrill Sandberg said.
Facebook Vice President Nick Clegg said that thanks to the company’s operational work, 150 operations related to the spread of disinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic were disrupted and 18 networks that influenced public opinion were shut down.
For his part, Zelensky briefed Sandberg and Clegg with the key achievements of Ukraine in the implementation of digitalization and the recent steps of the Ukrainian authorities towards improving the tax and legal regime for IT companies.
“Digitalization is a priority of our state. This is one of the steep reforms that are being actively implemented. We are digitizing 100% of public services,” Zelensky said.
He noted that Ukraine became the first country in the world to equate digital passports with ordinary ones. In addition, thanks to the portal of public services Diya, citizens can use the services of electronic signature and starting a business.
It was previously reported that Facebook launches alert system to find missing people in Ukraine children under the name AMBER Alert.
