The new head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Alexander Litvinenko, studied at the British Royal College of Defense Sciences, worked for the SBU.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced the new head, Alexander Litvinenko, to the staff of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (SVRU) and presented him with an official certificate. About it informs press service of the president.

We did a lot under his leadership at the Institute for Strategic Studies. Indeed, I have great respect for Mr. Litvinenko. According to him, Litvinenko is well aware of the tasks facing foreign intelligence – “the protection of sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Alexander Litvinenko was born in 1972 in Kiev. Has several higher educations. In particular, in 2009 he graduated from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Jurisprudence, and in 2013 – the Royal College of Defense Sciences (RCDS) in the UK.

He worked in various positions in the SBU and the NSDC. Major General of the Reserve. Since August 2019, he has served as Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies. He is a Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine. He was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree, the insignia of the President of Ukraine – the jubilee medal of 25 years of independence of Ukraine.

On the appointment of Litvinenko to the post became known on Friday, July 23rd. Zelenskiy signed a decree dismissing Litvinenko from the post of director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, where he worked before. And by a separate decree, the head of state dismissed the previous head of the SVR, Valery Kondratyuk.
