Maybrit Illner in portrait

Maybrit Illner was born in Berlin in 1965 and trained as an editor at the GDR television station. She started her television career with ZDF -Morning magazine. Illner has been the face of her talk show of the same name since 1999, which until 2007 was still called “Berlin Mitte”.

Illner has won numerous media prizes, including the Bambi (2002 and 2007), the German Television Prize (2002 and 2004), the Bavarian Television Prize (2003) and the Golden Camera (2009).

As an ambassador for the German Red Cross, she works to improve the living conditions of people in crisis regions, for example for the benefit of AIDS orphans in Africa. (THE)
