Zambian citizen killed in Ukraine recruited for war by ‘Wagner’

The fact that Nirenda was recruited by “Wagner” to the colony in Russia was confirmed by the founder of “Wagner”, the oligarch close to the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

News came to light this month that a Zambian citizen, who was previously in a colony in Moscow, has died in the war in Ukraine.

According to information available to the Zambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 23-year-old Nirenda died in Ukraine on 22 September. Nirenda previously studied at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. In April 2020, Nirenda was sentenced to 9.5 years in prison in Russia. You have been convicted of drug trafficking.

The Zambian government had previously asked Russia to immediately provide all information on the circumstances in which a Zambian citizen, who has served a sentence in a prison in Moscow, could go to war in Ukraine and lose his life there.

Relatives of Nirenda had previously speculated that he may have been recruited in prison by “Wagner” representatives.

Now Prigozhin has confirmed this information through his Konkord company. Prigozhin’s statement says that Nirenda went to war in Ukraine because Russia helped Africa a lot, so now she wanted to help Russia.

Since the summer, the private military company “Wagner” has been recruiting prisoners in Russian colonies for the war in Ukraine. Prisoners are promised amnesty and material reward for participating in the military operation.

In early November, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing people to be drafted into the army without canceled or canceled convictions for serious crimes.
