Thus, on Saturday April 26, a ceremony did take place in Saint-Germain-en-Laye ((Yvelines) on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims and Heroes of the Deportation.
Death in deportation to Dachau
The mayor, Arnaud Péricard, accompanied by father Amaury Cintrat, vicar of the parish of Saint-Germain, and of René Lugand, the head of the local chapter of theNational Union of Fighters, laid a wreath in front of the bustAbbé-Pierre-de-Porcaro located on the eponymous square.
Appointed vicar of Saint-Germain-en-Laye in 1935, the latter died in deportation to Dachau March 12, 1945 at the age of forty.
The ceremony of May 8 broadcast
It is important to continue, despite the confinement, to honor this duty of memory and we will also do so on May 8, explained the mayor of Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Patriotic demonstrations will be framed, but we will go with the sub-prefect and perhaps William Petrovic (Editor’s note: in charge of security, veterans and the duty of memory) and the standard bearer, honor the memory of those and those who died in combat. “
