Atalanta Welcomes Dynamic Midfielder Yunus Musah
Atalanta BC is delighted to announce the signing of Yunus Musah from AC Milan. The agreement is initially a loan until June 30th, 2026, with an option to secure a permanent transfer. The 22-year-old American midfielder brings a wealth of experience to Bergamo, having already amassed over 150 appearances in both Serie A and La Liga, alongside significant Champions League and Europa League exposure. Musah has chosen the number 6 shirt.
Musah’s burgeoning international career with the United States National Team is already impressive. Since making his debut on November 12th, 2020, against Wales, he has earned 47 caps, contributing one goal and three assists. He was a standout performer at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, starting in all four of the USMNT’s matches and earning recognition as one of the tournament’s young revelations. This performance led to him being awarded the US Soccer Young Player of the Year. He has also been a key component in the USMNT’s success, lifting the Concacaf Nations League trophy in 2021, 2023, and 2024.
Born in New York City on November 29th, 2002, to Ghanaian parents, Musah’s journey took him to Italy as an infant. He began his footballing education in the youth system of Giorgione before joining the prestigious Arsenal Academy in 2012 following a family relocation to London.
In 2019,Musah transitioned to valencia CF,initially featuring for the reserve team before breaking into the first team squad in the 2020/21 season. He quickly established himself as a regular, making 32 appearances and scoring one goal in his debut La Liga campaign.Over three seasons with valencia, he accumulated 108 appearances (94 in La Liga), adding 5 goals and 3 assists.
summer 2023 saw Musah join AC Milan, where he made his serie A debut against Torino. During his time in milan,he featured in 60 Serie A matches,12 Champions League games,4 Europa League contests,4 Coppa Italia matches,and 2 Supercoppa Italiana appearances,winning the latter in 2025 with a crucial assist in the semi-final victory over Juventus. He concluded his milan career with 82 total appearances and 5 assists, adding a Serie A title to his accolades.
Eligible to represent both england (at youth levels from U15 to U18) and the United states, musah ultimately chose to commit his international future to the USMNT.
