Youngstown State Baseball to Host Fall Prospect Camp for High School Athletes
YOUNGSTOWN, OH – August 28, 2024 – Aspiring baseball players in grades 8-12 and junior college athletes will have the chance to showcase their skills at the Youngstown State University (YSU) Baseball Fall Prospect Camp on Saturday, September 13th, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). Registration is now open, offering a comprehensive evaluation and training experience led by the YSU coaching staff and current players.
The camp, running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, is designed to provide participants with elite instruction, skill development, and a glimpse into the demands of collegiate baseball. Attendees will participate in a series of drills and evaluations mirroring those used in professional scouting, including a timed 60-yard dash, infield and outfield skill assessments, catcher pop time measurements, bullpen sessions for pitchers, and live batting practice.
The camp is divided into two sessions. The morning session (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, check-in at 8:30 AM) will focus on pro-style workouts and defensive instruction. The afternoon session (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM) will concentrate on offensive development and batting practice. This structure allows for focused attention on specific skill sets.
Camp Costs:
- Position Players: $185.50
- Pitchers Only (First Session): $159
- Two-Way Players (position & Pitcher): $207
Participants are responsible for bringing all standard baseball equipment, including a glove, bat, batting gloves, helmet, appropriate footwear (running or turf shoes), and a hat. All personal items shoudl be clearly marked with the camper’s name. YSU Athletics is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

The Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) is located on the YSU campus at 651 Elm St, Youngstown, OH 44555. The state-of-the-art facility provides a professional surroundings for the camp.
the YSU Baseball program, led by Head Coach Dan bertolini, is coming off a 2024 season where they finished with a 24-32 overall record and a 12-14 mark in Horizon League play. The Fall Prospect Camp serves as a key recruiting event for the Penguins, allowing the coaching staff to identify potential future players. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
