Young woman with Down syndrome in campaign of …

Eighteen-year-old Ellie Goldstein is the first woman ever with Down to tackle a campaign for Gucci. The photos were published in ‘Vogue Italia’.

British Ellie Goldstein has been working as a model for three years, but now her career seems to have really started. She was allowed to pose for Gucci Beauty, to promote the latest mascara from the Italian fashion house. That is extra special, because the teenager has Down syndrome. Goldstein was singled out when Gucci teamed up with Vogue Italia a search started for ‘unconventional’ beauties on Instagram.

‘We are very proud of Ellie and we are thrilled that she has all these nice comments on Gucci’s Instagram,’ her mother said in a comment to Daily Mail. “She has always liked to be in the spotlight and in front of the camera. She is very confident and can follow directions well. ”

‘Like to be famous’

Goldstein, originally from Ilford, was allowed to spend two days in London for the photo shoot, along with two other models. “I really enjoyed posing and the dress I was allowed to put on was beautiful,” she says. “I am very proud of the photo shoot and would like to become famous. I am also looking forward to be a model for other brands. ”

In the meantime, she is at least stringing successes together. She previously participated in an international campaign by Nike and a campaign for cosmetics brand Superdrug. However, her agency Zebedee Management believes that there is still a lot of room for more representation of people with disabilities. “Research shows that barely 0.06 percent of people in advertising campaigns have a disability, when we look at fashion and beauty it is only 0.02 percent.”
