You have to wade through the mud until you get out of it, says Gebre Selassie about the Liberec crisis

Did you remember him?

Of course! Basically, right after we scored the second goal. This time, however, there were more minutes left until the end than then, so I just hoped that we would finish the match to a victorious end even now. In our situation, it would not be good at all if we could still lose three points.

Then the victory of Liberec kicked to the title, how will it help now?

We all hope that it will again be a springboard to start a series and get off the rungs where we don’t want to be at all. However, it is still only one win. It is very important for us, but on the other hand we must not overestimate it.

Was there a more relaxed atmosphere in the cabin during the week?

Of course it’s better, because we waited a long time for the first win. But there is no euphoria here. She wouldn’t even be there. We are still where we do not want to be. But it’s nice that we were able to score in full after a long time.

Miroslav Stoch joined the team. How stronger will you be with him?

He hasn’t trained that much with us yet, but thanks to his kicking technique, he is one of the different players. It is definitely a reinforcement for us. In our situation, he can help us a lot in certain phases of the match. It will probably take a while before he gets used to the team, but on the other hand, due to the number of Slovaks in our country, he will not have such a big problem with acclimatization. It is also a good business card for Slovan Liberec that we are able to get such a player to us even in such a situation.

How have you been through the past weeks? You came as a resounding reinforcement from the Bundesliga, but Liberec fell into the biggest crisis of its first league history.

Of course I wanted a better start. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for us and we had red cards in several matches, which didn’t play for us. I wasn’t happy about it. But I have such an experience that it is always better when the worse start and end are better than when it is the other way around. I didn’t panic, but I’m very happy that we are gradually getting up. In the beginning, however, we ate a lot of it.

Does football make you happy at all this year? You ended the spring with a descent in Bremen, now he has been waiting a long time to win with Liberec …

One has to stay on top of things even in very difficult sports situations. Of course, it’s very important, but I have two healthy children, and then it throws it all into a different light. Of course, it was a difficult period, and it is not over yet, but I hope it will be better now. This is how holt in wave sports is. Now we just had a wave when we were down, and I hope we’ve hit the next one now and we’re getting up.

Was it the worst wave of his career in combination with spring?

No. It was very unpleasant, but in 2014 we only scored four points in the first nine rounds and waited a long time to win. Subsequently, we had a string of ten or eleven matches, of which we won nine and maybe two drew, so we finally played in the last round for the cup. I know it can turn in the other direction.

Stoch strengthened Liberec! Perhaps I will help him move higher, says the former Slavist

Did you mention this in the cabin?

Yes. I know how it goes. When you wade through the mud, you have to wade through the holt until you get out of it. When you stop, give up, and are surrendered, you will remain in the mud. You have to wade, nothing pleasant, but it belongs to sports. Someone loses, someone wins.

After eight rounds, you can evaluate. In what condition did you find the league outside after nine years?

The league is very physical and there are not so many differences between the teams. Of course, of the strong teams, we only played with Sparta so far, she was really very strong on the balloon and one felt the quality there, otherwise there was no match after which I could say that someone clearly played us. More or less, we lost a few matches through our own fault.

When players returned to the domestic league in the past, they were often struck by how little respect the referees on the field have, for example, compared to the Bundesliga. You too?

It is true that sometimes it occurs to me that many players allow themselves to communicate with the referees, respond to his verdicts, and it is not the captains or players who have something behind them. I really noticed that. He goes to the referee to discuss basically where who.

Have you ever regretted coming back?

No! The guy should support his decision. I wanted to go to Liberec and it wasn’t like everyone was saying how great it would be. Honestly, a lot of people discouraged me from coming back and advised me to play outside. I still wanted to, we moved with my family, I have a relationship with the club. I knew it was the right move, even though I knew it would be difficult.

Now you have a derby with Jablonec, how are you looking forward to it?

I will experience the derby again after a few years, because Hamburg has not played the Bundesliga in recent years … By the way, now the Werder-Hamburg derby was played in the second Bundesliga, so I watched. The derby had a very unfortunate course for Bremen … I’m looking forward to Jablonec. After the match with Boleslav, maybe the ideal time for the derby, it can move us higher again.

How do you see Jablonec as an opponent?

They have a well-composed team of quality and experienced players. Again, it will not be easy. but I believe that if we build on the end of the second half against Boleslav, we can play a good result.

It will also depend on whether you can look after the started Václav Pilař, who has a representative form and with whom you played in the national team. You will probably meet him a lot on the field.

Possible. But I have to prepare for the opponent as a whole, not just for one player. Anyway, for Pilka, I’m glad that he managed to get together in terms of health, because he’s an excellent football player. One was sorry that he could not sell his art on the field. It’s a little personal misfortune. It’s nice that he got into a lot of health. However, this does not mean that we will save him somehow.

You will meet coach Petr Rada again, who led you in Liberec. You are looking forward?

I’m looking forward to it. During the first laps I met a lot of coaches who used to train me and it was always nice to see each other, say hello, exchange a few words. I’m looking forward to it this time as well, but as always after the match.

On Thursday, you announced another foundation, where the proceeds of your charity project TGS23 will go. Is it going as planned?

Yes, the first one went for Alsa and I think we did very well. We had a sober estimate of how much we would like to choose, which we managed to overcome. We are now at the end of the second month and he is also on the right track. I’m glad that a lot of football players also order coffee, who also contribute to a good cause. Of course, there are worries connected with that, but when you do it for a good cause, you like to go through it. In addition, you will meet interesting people and stories.

Is coffee drunk more in the Liberec cabin now?

(laughs) The consumption of coffee in our cabin was relatively high even before, but we also made an order for the entire cabin. But it wasn’t my idea, I wouldn’t dare.

Do Bremen fans also order coffee?

Quite Yes. I admit I was curious about that. We have two hundred limited packages a month, of which the lower tens travel to Germany. So far, everything is going smoothly, although it is a long way off.
