Kim Seong-tae waived warrant review… Arrest will be decided tonight
Former Ssangbangwool Group chairman Kim Seong-tae, for whom an arrest warrant was requested, decided not to attend the interrogation of the suspect before the arrest, which was scheduled to be held this afternoon.
Accordingly, the court reviews the relevant records without interrogation and decides whether to issue an arrest warrant.

Kim Seong-tae, former chairman of Ssangbangwool Group, who was caught and sent to Thailand after 8 months of escaping abroad, submitted a waiver that he would not attend the interrogation of the suspect before the arrest scheduled for this afternoon.
Yang Seon-gil, chairman of Ssangbang-ul, for whom an arrest warrant was requested, also expressed his intention not to attend.
Former chairman Kim’s lawyer said, “I decided to be investigated in good faith, and I gave up participating in the warrant review in the sense of self-reflection.”
According to the rules of criminal procedure, if a suspect does not appear for certain reasons, the court may conduct an interrogation procedure to hear the opinions of the lawyer and the prosecutor.
However, as former chairman Kim’s lawyer and prosecutors both expressed their intention not to attend, the warrant examination was not held.
Instead, the court will decide whether to issue an arrest warrant after reviewing related records without interrogation.
Whether or not to issue a warrant for former Chairman Kim and others is expected to be decided late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
Earlier this morning, the prosecution requested an arrest warrant for former Chairman Kim on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust, violation of the Capital Market Act, violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, bribery, and teacher destruction of evidence.
However, the charges related to the payment of attorney fees for Lee Jae-myeong, the representative of the Democratic Party, were not applied.
When an arrest warrant is issued for former Chairman Kim, the prosecution plans to look closely at various allegations such as payment of attorney fees and remittances to North Korea during the 20-day arrest period.
