Yonex Thailand Open: Praveen / Melati Anticipating Heavy Match

Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva anticipating a tough match at the Yonex Thailand Open 2021 quarterfinal round, when they face the Danish pair who have eliminated the seed.

Praveen / Melati stepped into the quarterfinals after defeating Thailand’s representatives, Supak Jomkoh / Supissara Paewsampran.

The match will be the first meeting between the two couples. Even though the ranking remains much higher, which is Praveen / Melati in 4th place, while its opponent is in 44th place in the world.

Even so, the 2020 All England champion received tough resistance from the Thai pair, especially in the second game, when they had to chase numbers. But in the end Praveen / Melati able to win 21-14, 22-20.

“Today we played quite well, the Thai couple did too. They do have a solid game and a strong fighting spirit,” said Praveen in a PBSI release.

“We try to focus on our game, communication with Meli is also maintained, don’t let your guard down and relax.”

Praveen is also reluctant to settle for the results in the next round even though the opponents faced in the last eight are not non-seeds. Praveen / Melati will compete for the semifinal ticket with the Danish pair, Mathias Christiansen / Alexandra Boje.

From head to head both of them, Praveen / Melati winning one win. The last two pairs were presented at the 2019 French Open with a score of 19-21, 21-15, 21-13.

“Tomorrow we have to be better prepared because the opponent is a Danish pair who are of good quality. They beat the 7th seed earlier,” said Praveen.
