Commission II DPR plans to report the Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly to the President Joko Widodo because they were not present at the meeting to discuss Simultaneous local elections in 2020. DPR Commission II Chairman Ahmad Doli Kurnia was disappointed with Yasonna.
“We agree that we send a letter to the president conveying this situation,” Doli said during a meeting at the DPR, Jakarta, Monday (6/29).
Commission II of the House of Representatives and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of Home Affairs have a meeting agenda to discuss the stipulation of Government Regulation in lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 2 of 2020 concerning Pilkada becomes law through plenary today, Monday (29/6). However, Yasonna was absent.
“I don’t understand which institution can or above the president who doesn’t present Menkumham,” Doli said. He compared Home Minister Tito Karnavian who was supposed to have a meeting with Jokowi, but had time to come to a meeting with the DPR.
Doli asserted that the Simultaneous Election 2020 is an important activity. Involving many communities in 270 regions.
Commission II has sent an invitation to Yasonna since long ago to attend a discussion on the Perppu on Regional Election today. Therefore, Doli could not understand why Yasonna dared to be absent twice.
“Not only do not respect institutions, but do not value the political and legal processes related to the lives of many people, because the postponement of the elections on December 9 is full of consequences,” he said.
In the previous meeting, Yasonna was also absent. Therefore, Doli is disappointed with Yasonna. He felt that Yasonna did not respect the instinct of the DPR.
In contrast to Yasonna, Home Minister Tito Karnavian attended the meeting. However, the meeting had to be postponed again due to Yasonna’s absence today.
“Menkumham 2 times, the first time yesterday was absent stating that it was absent, and today has stated that the letter will not be present. Signed directly Menkumham,” said Doli.
Seeing the situation, Doli decided to postpone the first Perppu Pilkada decision-making meeting until Thursday (2/7). He also requested that Yasonna be able to attend the meeting.
PDIP faction member Commission II Johan Budi also regretted that Yasonna was not present at the meeting. In fact, the meeting was postponed at the request of the government, but now it is not present again.
“It means that if the person asking for it is not committed, I think this needs to be a firm attitude in my opinion, too,” Johan said.
It is known, President Joko Widodo signed Perppu No. 2 of 2020 concerning the elections on May 4, 2020. The Perppu contains that the implementation of the 2020 Simultaneous Local Election was postponed until December 2020 due to a non-natural disaster in the form of a corona virus outbreak (Covid-19).
