Elected Member of Parliament since 2002, Genevieve Levy, 74, announced in May that she would not seek re-election. In 2017, she received a comfortable score of just over 55% of the vote. The former member of the UMP, and ex-LR, opens a war of succession which could well benefit right-wing candidates in this constituency marked by the presence of the largest military port in the country. Philippe Vitel (LR) is the vice-president of the commission for national defense and the armed forces, and is notably opposed to the Toulon municipal councilor, and regional councilor, Amaury Navarranne of RN.

In the previous vote, last May for the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron came out on top in the first round with 25.4% of the vote followed less than two points by Marine Le Pen (23.7%), and Jean- Luc Melenchon (18.7%).
