Xbox Series S is not official yet, and its announcement looks like has been delayed to september, as revealed Jeff Grubb. Aun as, we already know many details about the characteristics of this model which aims to attract Xbox gamers who are not looking for 4K resolutions, but at the same time want to enjoy the new generation catalog, as well as being compatible with previous Xbox. Xbox Series X, and probably Xbox Series S, will be on sale in Spain this November.
Tom Warren from The Verge has collected a comparison table of technical data comparing Xbox Series X to S published by TweakTown, and take the opportunity to add a missing data: Xbox Series S will use 20 CUs @ 1,550Ghz instead of the 52 CUs @ 1,825GHz of the known model. The only point I make to the text is that there are no Xbox Series X exclusive games that will not work on Series S, as they both belong to the same generation.

The main differences
Both models will use the same CPU but the smaller GPU, among other differences, place the Xbox Series S with a power of 4 TFLOPs, below the 12.15 of the Xbox Series X and even the Xbox One X -6 TFLOPs-. However, it has already been explained on many occasions that its performance will be better than that of One X, in addition to having effects of ray-tracing and the advantages of the SSD disk that are not possible in the current generation. While the objective of Xbox Series X is to maintain a resolution standard at 4K -and even reach 8K-, in the case of Xbox Series S it will aim at 1440p; is a console for users who do not plan to make the leap to 4K televisions or do not give importance to this aspect.
Another difference is lto the optical disc reader unit, which in the case of Xbox Series S does not exist. Sony also plans to launch a model without a reader, the PS5 Digital Edition, although in this case there are no further differences in hardware between the two PS5s.
The great unknown of the consoles is the price, which will be the advantage of Xbox Series S, but so far no leak has revealed this detail, and apparently we will still have to wait a month to find out. You can learn more about Xbox Series X in our information brief.
