Xbox Prices Increase Again in the US, Marking Second Hike This Year
SEATTLE, WA – September 26, 2024 – Microsoft is once again raising prices on its Xbox Series S adn Series X consoles in the United States, effective October 3rd. This marks the second price increase for the consoles this year, and the latest in a series of adjustments to Xbox hardware costs since 2023.
the price of the Xbox Series X will increase to $649.99 from its current $599.99. The Xbox Series S will see a price jump to $399.99, up from $379.99. The 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition Xbox Series X will be the most affected, increasing by $70 to $799.99.Microsoft attributes the increases to “changes in the macroeconomic surroundings,” widely understood to be the impact of tariffs.Pricing outside of the US will remain unchanged, and controllers and headsets will maintain their current US prices.
This latest adjustment comes just six months after Microsoft increased prices on Xbox consoles, controllers, and headsets in May. Combined with the previous hikes, the Xbox Series X has increased in price by $150 in the US since May, while the Series S has risen by $100. the 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition, which debuted nearly a year ago at $599.99, will now cost $799.99 – a $200 increase in one year.
