WWE Friday Night SmackDown #1117
Ort: WWE Thunderdome im Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida
First aired on January 15, 2021

SmackDown begins by looking back at what happened around Adam Pearce and Roman Reigns. Even after that we see Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman, who got the contract for the match at the PPV a few minutes ago. Reigns doesn’t look thrilled, Heyman says it’s the same standard contract as always. He convinces Reigns to let him bring the contract back to Pearce himself and negotiate a stipulation that will teach Pearce respect. Reigns hands him the contract and Heyman sets off.

Before the first match, Jey Uso welcomes us to SmackDown. He states that Adam Pearce, Kevin Owens, and none other than his family are leading and running the show. And you should be grateful to Roman for everything that happens on SmackDown. To build the reputation of the family and bloodline, he will compete in the Royal Rumble to win it and become WWE Champion. Because he and his family are the WWE. But first he will take care of Shinsuke Nakamura. Because whoever stands in the way of him and his family, leave the arena on a stretcher. Nakamura has heard enough. He says that if Reigns is the Big Dog, Uso is his little puppy. Uso wants to attack the Japanese, but catches a kick, after the advertisement it comes to the following match …

1. Match
Singles Match
Shinsuke Nakamura won against Jey Uso via pin after the Kinshasa.
Match time: 12:22
– After a good three minutes, Cesaro came to the ring and took a seat at the commentary table. He announced that he would take part in the Royal Rumble Match.
– Uso had almost defeated Nakamura with a roller, but the referee saw in time that Uso was using the ropes to help. In the discussion that followed, Nakamura was the beneficiary and surprised Uso with the scooter.

Adam Pearce is backstage with Sonya Deville. The two discuss when Paul Heyman arrives and hands over the contract. The possibility of life for Pearce. He will be in the main event at the Royal Rumble, he will be in the ring with Roman Reigns and the stipulation even suits him because it is a no disqualification match. Pearce knows it’s all about harming him, but still signs and gives Heyman the contract. He looks very satisfied.
After the advertisement, Jey Uso stands at the referee and they discuss the outcome of the match. Uso says he should do a better job or he’ll hear from the tribal chief. An insecure referee is left behind.

A review of the title win by Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode is shown. Street Profits say they will do whatever it takes to get them back quickly.

Again we see Reigns, this time Apollo Crews is sitting with him. Heyman comes with the contract, but Reigns doesn’t want a No DQ match, he wants a Last Man Standing match. Heyman replies that Pearce will never agree to that. Reigns says he sees the story as settled and assumes that Pearce will sign the contract later in the ring. A very desperate Heyman takes the contract and starts looking again.

2. Match
Singles Match
Natalya (w / Tamina) won against Liv Morgan (w / Billie Kay & Ruby Riott) via pin after rolling in.
Match time: 04:36
– Riott wasn’t thrilled that Kay was there, but Morgan seemed to persuade her. Kay then took a seat at the commentary table. After three and a half minutes she preferred to support Morgan from the edge of the ring, and she got into a fight with Tamina. It came as it had to and kept coming in the past few weeks, she fled through the ring and irritated Morgan so that Natalya took advantage of it to win.

Again we look back on the Gauntlet Match of the past week, this time the deeds of “King” Corbin are shown and the next match is hyped.

3. Match
Singles Match
“King” Corbin won against Rey Mysterio (w / Dominik Mysterio) via pin after the End of Days.
Match time: 05:00
– Dominik also sat down with the commentators. There he was repeatedly provoked by Corbin. At some point he no longer put up with that, but was handled by Corbin. Rey wanted to take care of his son, and Corbin used that to end the match.

Adam Pearce can be seen backstage again, he meets Heyman again. This has several reasons why Reigns was not interested in the No DQ match. Pearce interrupts him again and just wants to know what Heyman is up to. He tells him that he should think about it, because at the end of the evening he could communicate his concerns to Roman Reigns in the ring.

The first edition of “Ding Dong, Hello!” With Bayley is being prepared.

Dominick and Rey Mysterio argue backstage. The junior wants to take care of Corbin, but Mysterio doesn’t want to leave without a plan. Fortunately, he knows exactly the guy they need.

Bayley’s talk show starts. She welcomes her current “Gu-est” Bianca Belair. Bayley congratulates her on her documentary, which premieres on January 24th on the WWE Network. But instead of a preview, Bayley’s victory over Belair from last month is recorded. It’s again about Belair, who calls herself “est”. Bayley replies that she must be the best then, because she has already defeated Belair. Belair wants a rematch, but Bayley has nothing left to prove. Instead, the two will compete against each other in an obstacle course next week.

Earlier, Daniel Bryan trained with Chad Gable and Otis at Alpha Academy. Kayla came over and asked Bryan if the loss to Nakamura was nibbling on his self-confidence, but Bryan had so much respect for the Japanese that it had no effect, because anyone could lose to him. Cesaro arrives and makes fun of all three, so Bryan offers to show him the effectiveness of the training methods in a match. That’s how it is explained

4. Match
Singles Match
Cesaro won against Daniel Bryan via pin after the neutralizer.
Match time: 12:31

Kayla Braxton is backstage with Carmella and Reginald. Carmella talks a bit about Sasha Banks, who comes in and attacks her. Reginald gets in the way and Banks tells him that if Banks gets to face Reginald first, Carmella will get a title match. Carmella looks very satisfied, Reginald looks rather skeptical.

5. Match
Singles Match
Apollo Crews won against Sami Zayn via pin after a scooter.
Match time: 03:13
– The commentators also have support for this match, this time we see Big E with a headset.
– Sami Zayn had defeated crews with a scooter, but here too the referee was very attentive and recognized that Zayn had grabbed crews by the pants. When Crews did the same, she didn’t see it.

After the match, Crews grabbed Big Es Intercontinental Championship. He said that Crews had touched the title for the first and last time. Crews replies five or six times, “Take care of that.” A match between the two will be made official for the coming week.

Roman Reigns goes to the ring. He has Jey Uso and Paul Heyman with him. Adam Pearce is also joining us. He sits down, but Reigns wants the chair, Uso makes sure Pearce gets up, Heyman offers him the other chair, the gentleman he is. Pearce hesitates for a moment and signs the contract. Reigns grins and is handed a pen from Heyman, with which he too signs the contract (which neither he, Heyman nor Uso had ever looked at). Reigns looks triumphantly at Pearce, who grabs a microphone. Pearce says he’s been waiting all evening for Reigns to do this and leaves the ring. The three men look after him skeptically when Pearce suddenly begins to hobble. He says that unfortunately he has a serious knee injury. Fortunately, standard contracts stipulate that as a WWE official he could designate a replacement. The result: Kevin Owens, who signs the contract with a big grin on his face. That ends the output of SmackDown.
