The show begins with a look back at the “WWE Payback” PPV and the Triple Threat Match between “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns, in which the latter won the WWE Universal Championship. Then the commentators Michael Cole and Corey Graves greet us from the “WWE Thunderdome”, before the new WWE Universal Champion and his manager Paul Heyman go to the ring with well-rehearsed boos. Heyman makes it clear that fans shouldn’t refer to him as a bogeyman manipulating Roman Reigns. It is much more Roman Reigns who manipulates Paul Heyman. Reigns has had to go through a lot in the last few years, but against all odds, he has always delivered. But he never received a “thank you” or anything, on the contrary: When he needed a little break earlier this year, they ridiculed his WWE Universal Championship by allowing “The Fiend” and Braun Strowman to fight for the title. “The Fiend” only does “Fiendish” things, while a monster only does monstrous things. Neither of the two can represent a league like the WWE.
At RAW there was a Triple Threat Match to determine the next World Title Challenger for “WWE Clash of Champions”. In SmackDown, under Reigns’ leadership, everything will be much bigger than in RAW. That’s why there will be a Fatal 4 Way Match today to determine the sacrificial lamb for Roman Reigns in “WWE Clash of Champions”. However, the participants are so insignificant that neither Reigns nor Heyman will mention them by name. They prefer to leave this task to “Anderson Cooper” and “Carmella’s latest Boyfriend” at the commentary desk. His name is Paul Heyman and he serves as Special Advisor to Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. He concludes that when you have as much power as he does, you just have to show up and win. Appropriately, he wears a shirt that says “Show up & win”.
After a commercial break, Roman Reigns & Paul Heyman walk through the backstage area. Reigns meets his cousin Jey Uso, whereupon Paul Heyman leaves them alone. Uso asks what the collaboration with Heyman is all about, but Reigns makes it clear that he’s in control.
1. Match
Tag Team Match
Heavy Machinery (Otis & Tucker) won against John Morrison & The Miz via pin through Otis against The Miz after the Vader Bomb.

After the match, John Morrison grabs Otis’ Money in the Bank suitcase and disappears with it.
Backstage, Big E is preparing for Xavier Woods’ return with the help of Drew Gulak and the Lucha House Party (Kalisto, Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik), who will host “Talking Smack” today and also has his birthday today. An employee advises Big E that Woods is in the underground car park. Big E then grabs the cake and goes into the underground car park, where he is attacked directly by Sheamus. At first he can still defend himself, but shortly afterwards has to suffer a white noise on the windshield of a car. Several officials rush to take care of Big E.
Kayla Braxton explains after the commercial break that Big E sustained multiple cuts and presumably other internal injuries as well. He will be taken to a local medical facility and examined more closely. Sheamus arrives and explains that he was only protecting himself. Big E came into the underground car park so adrenalized that he had virtually no choice but to defend himself. Instead of focusing on the essentials, it seemed that Big E was more interested in focusing on Xavier Woods. This could have been the biggest evening in Big Es’s career, but once again he lets himself be pulled down by his friends.
Michael Hyperbole and Corey Graves are promoting “possibly the best Tag Team Championship Match in history”, which is coming up soon. But before we get to Kenny Omega & Adam Page (c) vs. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) are coming, let’s take a look at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match between Bayley & Sasha Banks and Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler on “WWE Payback”.
Afterwards, former champions Bayley & Sasha Banks will be interviewed by Alyse Ashton. Ashton suggests the past few weeks have not been going really well for the two of them, especially Sasha Banks, who lost both titles in eight days. However, the two don’t want to know about it and promise to get their titles back.
In an interview with Kayla Braxton, Adam Pearce announces that Big E cannot participate in the Fatal 4 Way Match today. Nonetheless, the match will continue to be a Fatal 4 Way Match and a replacement participant will be announced. Paul Heyman arrives and indicates that he wants to talk to Adam Pearce in private.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Tag Team Match
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) won against Bayley & Sasha Banks via pin by Nia Jax against Bayley & Sasha Banks after a double diving crossbody from the middle ring rope.
Match time: 15:39
– During the match, Shayna Baszler worked on Sasha Banks’ left knee after Banks hit the ring post on the apron with the running double knee.
After the match, doctors take care of the visibly ailing Sasha Banks. At some point, Banks feels pressured by the doctors and pushes them away from him. Bayley then takes care of her best friend and accompanies her to the Ringapron. There she kicks Banks down with one kick and does gymnastics against Banks! She attacks Banks outside the ring and throws them against the ring staircase and ring post. In the ring, Bayley focuses on the already injured knee before tucking a chair around Banks’ neck and jumping from the middle ring rope onto the chair. Then she clings to her title belt in the best Ciampa / Goldie fashion while the doctors take care of Sasha Banks again.
Sami Zayn comes to the ring with his WWE Intercontinental Championship belt and complains to Greg Hamilton about not being announced as an “Intercontinental Champion”. Hamilton explains that this was not on his notes. He then wants to speak to “Marty” from the production truck and find out whether the addition “WWE Intercontinental Champion” was present at least when his name was displayed. When “Marty” denies this on the grounds that it was not in his notes, Sami is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. He is interrupted by WWE Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy, who confronts the former champion in the ring. But he too is interrupted by the former champion AJ Styles, who describes himself as the “uncrowned champion”. Jeff makes it clear that he would like to defend his title against Styles. Sami Zayn intervenes and explains that it doesn’t work that way. AJ Styles uses this moment to attack Jeff Hardy and a brawl breaks out between the three wrestlers, which Zayn wins.
Commentators announce that Jey Uso will be in the Fatal 4 Way Match!
We see two feet in high heels run across the picture.
In the backstage area, Otis reveals to his tag team partner Tucker that he is keeping his money in the bank contract in the lunch box. When Tucker asks what’s in the suitcase, we switch to The Miz & John Morrison. The Miz clarifies that Morrison is not automatically Mr. Money in the Bank just because he is carrying the suitcase. Morrison then opens the suitcase and finds Otis’ school supplies in it.
Jey Uso enters Roman Reigns’ locker room and thanks the WWE Universal Champion for the chance to stand in the # 1 Contenders Match. Reigns explains that Jey now has to prove that he can assert himself alone.
Matt Riddle heads to the ring for the main event. King Corbin is carried out on his throne and complains about Jey Uso’s Late Addition. Matt Riddle then storms up the ramp and fights his rival. Shortly afterwards, Sheamus and Jey Uso come out and the four men fight before the main event even starts.
At his Firefly Fun House, Bray Wyatt has announced a special guest for the coming week. Then we see “Harley Quinn” Alexa Bliss apologize to Nikki Cross for her freaking out the previous week. She doesn’t know what made her behave in this way. Nikki forgives her friend and the two hug. In the background, Ramblin ‘Rabbit is “watching” the scene.
3. Match
The winner will receive a WWE Universal Championship Match against Roman Reigns – Fatal 4 Way Match at “WWE Clash of Champions”
Jey Uso won against Matt Riddle, King Corbin and Sheamus via pin against Matt Riddle after the Uso Splash. Before that, Matt Riddle showed the Floating Bro against King Corbin and the Bro 2 Sleep against Sheamus, who in turn knocked King Corbin down with the Brogue Kick.

In the post-match interview, Jey Uso explains that he also made his family proud. SmackDown goes off air with a partying Uce.
