WWE fires more than a dozen coronavirus fighters

Stamford – The WWE Discharged more than a dozen professional wrestlers on Wednesday as part of budget cuts during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the fired talents are Puerto Ricans Primo and Epico Colón, Hall of Fame Kurt Angle, Rusev, Zack Ryder, EC3, Rowan, Lio Rush, Drake Maverick, Heath Slater, Curt Hawkins, Eric Young, Aiden English, Curt Hawkins, Sarah Logan, Mike Kanellis , Maria Kanellis and No Way José.

In addition, referee Mike Chioda, who has been with the company since 1989, was dismissed.

The measures arose despite the fact that the promoter company received authorization to continue with its events live on television, after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis considered WWE as an essential company.

Professional sports were included in the list of businesses that have permission to remain open in a memo published on April 9, which includes to “professional sports employees, national media production … only if the venue is closed to the general public.”

The modification allows World Wrestling Entertainment, chaired by Vince McMahon in their Florida offices, to continue the show, but without fans.

On Wednesday, WWE announced that it had made some changes to cut expenses and improve cash flow, such as: Reduce executive and board member salaries, lower operating costs, cut outlays on talent, staff and outside consultants, as well as postponing expenses for the construction of the new company headquarters in the following six months.

WWE also got rid of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Earlier this month, they were both on the WrestleMania undercard alongside A.J. Styles and Undertaker which included recorded fights in an empty arena.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Republican DeSantis said there are people who are looking for a little fun to boost morale while staying home. He added that he would like to see other sporting events, perhaps a hobby NASCAR race or a golf rematch between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

“If you think about it, we have never had a time like this in modern history, when we have had so little content, particularly in the field of sports,” said the governor.
