WWDC 2023 Announcements: New MacBook Air, iOS 17, iPadOS, and Apple Vision Pro

We are over a really meaningful WWDC.

Apple tuned customers to WWDC 2023 with huge promises and a resounding introduction, and we, as usual for all similar online conferences, collected the most important announcements in a separate article. You can find separate news related to each topic by linking.

Not only did we get a new MacBook Air model, but iOS 17 and the renewed iPadOS were given a detailed presentation, it turned out that a game that was previously launched as a PS-exclusive will now also be available on Mac, and at the end of the show the big announcement arrived: Apple Vision Pro Apple’s VR headset comes under the name

So this is what happened at WWDC 2023:

  • To begin with, the 15-inch MacBook Air was introduced, which, with its thickness of 11.5 millimeters, is practically the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world. Of course, it is powered by the M2 chip, has six speakers, and is capable of a lot of other miracles. Pre-orders started today, and will be on store shelves next week. At the same time, not only the price of the new MacBook Air ($1,299) was revealed, but also that the price tags of the previous laptops will be changed.
  • The new Mac Studio became the next contender, the new version pushes the boundaries even further with an M2 Max chip. In addition, a system optimized for professional work can do even more. The M2 Ultra was introduced, which combines the power of two M2 Max.
  • The new Mac Pro, which can be customized in many ways, is not aimed at ordinary users either, and movies will certainly be made with it – this is no wonder in view of the price of 6999 dollars, that is, almost HUF 2.5 million (net!).
  • iOS 17, on the other hand, has obviously affected many more Apple users. The most important changes were presented with frequently used and completely new apps.
  • An interesting innovation is the live voicemail, which immediately shows the transcript of the call that is currently running, which otherwise goes to voicemail – so we can easily decide whether we would like to pick up the phone after all.
  • Thanks to the NameDrop solution, we can immediately transfer our saved contacts to each other with connected phones (or Apple Watches).
  • A completely new application is coming called Journal, which has a rather telling name, as it really serves to preserve our memories, it fills in a classic diary f
  • From now on, if we place our iPhone on its side somewhere, the StandBy mode will be activated, with which the entire screen can be used to turn our mobile into a classic clock, calendar, and a bunch of widgets are also available.
  • After iOS, the new iPadOS followed immediately, which flashed interactive widgets, but the customization of the Lock Screen was also updated.
  • We still stayed with the operating systems, the latest version of macOS, Sonoma, also showed itself with new screensavers, widgets that can be placed on the desktop, and other goodies.
  • Apple didn’t forget about gamers either, they got a separate segment for games running on Mac.
  • In fact, Hideo Kojima himself came in, who said, Death Stranding Director’s Cut is coming to Mac.
  • After the games came the music. Thanks to the Adaptive Audio function, noise filtering will ensure that AirPods users are not disturbed by their surroundings, but that important sound effects (say, the bell of a bicycle passing by) can be clearly heard.
  • The TV line couldn’t be left out either: the FaceTime app is moving to Apple TV
  • WatchOS 10, the latest version of Apple Watch’s own operating system, was also introduced.
  • The biggest bang, however, was obviously left for the very end of the show: the Apple AR platform and the accompanying headset were finally unveiled. The new device is called Apple Vision Pro, which promises to completely merge the real and digital worlds. Peripherals are replaced by our hands, eyes and voice. Not only can we unpack all kinds of apps in our own room, or even the screen of our Mac, but we can also watch movies and play video games in a way that appears on a huge virtual cinema screen in front of us. Apple Vision Pro will be available not only on the Apple TV+ streaming platform, but also on Disney+, loaded with a bunch of extras. Of course, the price is also high: it costs 3,499 dollars, that is, approximately HUF 1.2 million net, including taxes.
