REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Since late last year, a comet or comet has been passing close to Earth. The comet, named C/2022 E3 (ZTF), was first observed on March 2, 2022.
The term ZTF refers to the location where it was found, namely the Zwicky Transcient Facility (ZTF) of the Palomar Observatory, California, United States (US). Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) has an orbital period of 50,000 years and glows green around its core.
According to the Planetarium Jakarta website, on 1-2 February 2023, Comet C/2022 E3 will be closest to Earth, 42,490,414 kilometers. This is also the best time to view Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF).
People can see it using binoculars or a telescope. Comets can be observed from early evening until 02.00 WIB and are in the constellation Camelopardalis. Every day, the comet’s position will move across several constellations in the sky.
