‘Wrongly placed sewage pumping station remains in front of the house’ | Inland

Although the municipality of Dordrecht solemnly promised more than a year ago to move the more than one and a half meter high cupboard and the pumping station to the location indicated on the original construction drawing by mid-2020, nothing has happened yet.

Inquiries with the municipality show that a solution is indeed being worked on behind the scenes, but that relocation is no longer preferred in the Dordrecht municipal office.

Because of the complexity, moving turns out to have a sky-high price tag. The cost of the operation is said to amount to hundreds of thousands of euros. The municipality therefore wants to pay compensation to the owner of the home and leave the installation at its current location. There is, however, the option of replacing the switch box with a smaller one, which is less eye-catching. “We have made a proposal to the resident,” said a spokesperson when asked.

In the autumn of 2018, the occupant of the new-build house in Hazelaarlaan was confronted with the cupboard that was accidentally placed right in front of the house.

Fine-clothed

After this newspaper had published about the blunder, responsible councilor Marco Stam put on the sackcloth. As far as he is concerned, the move would be a matter of days rather than weeks.

However, it remained anxiously silent after that, until the municipality announced in a press release last July that the relocation would not be carried out until mid-2020 because other activities were given priority.

The resident says in a reaction that she does not intend to give in an inch. “I don’t want to settle at all. That thing has to go and I was promised that in black and white. ”
