Knicks Could Explore anthony Davis Trade, NBA Insider Reports

NEW YORK, NY – The New York Knicks, currently 9-6, are reportedly prepared to explore trade options to bolster their championship aspirations, with Dallas Mavericks forward anthony Davis emerging as a potential target. SNY’s Ian begley reported he is “sure” the Knicks “would at least check in with [the Dallas Mavericks] if/when Anthony Davis becomes available,” driven by their commitment to winning a title this season.

Davis’ future in Dallas is uncertain following the team’s 5-13 start and the recent dismissal of General Manager Nico harrison. Begley noted, “If Dallas is offering Davis at a below-market cost, I’m sure the Knicks will at least give the move some thought. But this, again, is stating the obvious. The Mavs will get calls from nearly all NBA teams if/when they make Davis available.”

Davis, currently sidelined with a calf injury, has appeared in only five games this season. As joining the Mavericks in a trade involving Luka Doncic last season,he has played in just 14 of 46 possible games, missing time due to injuries including an adductor strain sustained in his Dallas debut.

The Knicks boast a strong roster anchored by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Adding Davis, when healthy, would substantially enhance New York’s title contention, given his reputation as a premier two-way player.

Begley also indicated the trade market is expected to gain momentum over the next three to four weeks, with the February 5th trade deadline approaching. This timeframe suggests the Knicks could act swiftly as teams position themselves for the NBA playoff push.
