Bushfire Threatens South Coast Retirement Village Near Jervis Bay

Worrowing Heights, NSW – A bushfire posed a threat to residents in Worrowing Heights, a south coast retirement village near Jervis Bay, on Sunday, November 5th. The fire prompted an emergency warning before being downgraded as conditions improved.
According to Rural fire Service (RFS) spokesman Greg allan, crews were first alerted to the blaze just before noon.The situation escalated, leading to an emergency warning being issued around 2:00 PM.

Prior to the downgrade, the emergency warning stated: ”If you are in the Worrowing Heights area, south of The Wool Road, east of Larmer Avenue you are in danger. It is indeed now too late to leave. Seek shelter now inside a solid structure such as a house.”
residents in Worrowing heights,Sanctuary Point,and Old Erowal Bay were advised to monitor the situation closely and prepare a plan of action should the fire threaten their properties.
Total Fire Ban in Effect
The RFS had already implemented a total fire ban on Sunday across the NSW Lower Central West Plains and the Central Ranges, citing hazardous conditions. This ban has been extended to include the Greater Hunter and North Western regions on Monday, November 6th, due to forecasts of hot and windy weather.
