Indian archers delivered a strong performance at the World University Games in Essen, Germany, on Saturday, with Sahil Jadhav clinching the men’s individual compound gold and Parneet Kaur securing the women’s individual silver.The duo’s success contributed to India’s remarkable tally of five medals in archery, comprising two gold, two silver, and one bronze.
Jadhav’s path to gold included a tense all-Indian semifinal where he edged out compatriot Kushal Dalal with a shoot-off victory. He then faced World Cup Stage team gold medalist Ajay Scott of Great Britain in a closely contested final, ultimately triumphing 149-148. Jadhav demonstrated remarkable composure, shooting perfect scores for four consecutive ends to overcome Scott’s challenge in the high-pressure finale.
