Leander Lo, jiu-jitsu world champion, was shot in the head at a party in the early hours of Sunday, August 7th. The 33-year-old Brazilian athlete is brain dead, according to what his lawyer told G1.
According to the publication, Leandro was shot in the head after an argument inside the Clube Sírio, in the neighborhood of Indianópolis, in the South Zone of São Paulo. The lawyer said that the athlete immobilized the other man to try to calm the situation. After walking away, the attacker pulled out a gun and fired. After the shot, the aggressor still gave two kicks to Leandro, who was on the ground, and fled the scene.
A friend, who witnessed the crime, said that the aggressor was alone and provoked Leandro and the five friends, who were at a table. “He arrived, took a bottle of liquor from our table. Lo just immobilized him to calm down. He took four or five steps and fired.” said. The athlete was rescued and transported urgently to the hospital.
Leandro Lo was jiu-jitsu world champion eight times and, according to a friend, would compete in another championship, in the USA, in the next few days.
