A retrospective in New York shows photos by Bernd and Hilla Becher. The show, which will be shown until November 6th, is a retrospective of the work of the Düsseldorf artist couple, the Photographic Collection/SK Stiftung Kultur Köln announced on Thursday. – Bernd and Hilla Becher (1931-2007, 1934-2015) were among the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century. Since the 1960s, their works have provided important impetus for photography and art. For more than 50 years, the artist couple has devoted themselves to the subject of the industrial landscape, the functional buildings and constructions of the mining industry in Western Europe and North America. – The couple created numerous black-and-white photographs, which they took with their large format cameras, of winding towers, blast furnaces, water and cooling towers, coal bunkers, gas tanks, half-timbered houses and complete industrial landscapes. – The method employed by the Bechers transformed the objective view of 19th and early 20th century photography into a new era, pointing to perspectives of minimal and conceptual art. – Between 1976 and 1996 Bernd Becher taught at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf. Numerous well-known photographers and artists emerged from his photography class. The couple had had their studio in Düsseldorf since the 1960s. Today the studio is passed on by her son, estate administrator and artist Max Becher. – From 1995 until their death, the artist couple worked together with the Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne, from which the Bernd and Hilla Becher Archive came into being. The majority of the show in New York is furnished from this collection. >>>More information about the exhibition is available here. – – Related posts:an injured in a pile-up on the A46Two young and healthy parents became infected with COVID and left their young sons round orphans"Water level of the Elbe in Dresden falls below four meters amidst flood concerns"Halo Infinite player on console wants to avoid cheaters on PC.
