The Christmas package campaign begins: the elderly benefit from the “Christmas with a heart” campaign.
For the 13th time, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in the Freiburg region and the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nordlicher Breisgau are calling for the campaign package “Christmas with heart 2022”. Seniors should benefit, especially those who are lonely and often only have a small pension. According to the AWO and Sparkasse in a joint press release, many older people are particularly suffering from the recent sharp rise in prices.
From Monday 28 November to Thursday 15 December, shoeboxes can be filled with Christmas gifts and delivered at branches and the financial center of the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau. Campaign accepted during office hours, but only from Tuesday 29 November, as the office is still closed on Mondays due to moving.
The packages are then handed over to residents of the AWO’s retirement and nursing homes as well as senior citizens cared for by the outpatient services of the two district associations of the AWO in Freiburg and Emmendingen and by the local associations of the AWO in Denzlingen, Emmendingen and Waldkirch.
Anyone who wants to fill a package themselves can do so under the motto “Something for the stomach, something for the head and something for the heart”, advises the AWO. It could include tea, coffee, honey, jam, Christmas biscuits, Stollen, a small Linzer cake, pasta, soup, tinned sausage, chocolate, body care products or puzzle books.
A special joy can be achieved with some nice Christmas lines and wishes or painted pictures and handicrafts that children include in the package as gifts.
We ask that gifts are placed unwrapped in a standard shoe box which can be tightly closed after being filled. The box would therefore not have to be wrapped further with wrapping paper, because the Christmas wrapping of all donations will take place from 14 to 17 December at the AWO in Freiburg. In addition to the campaign flyers, ready-made transfer forms for donating money are also available in Sparkasse branches. AWO Freiburg then takes care of the shopping and packing.
