The works for the rehabilitation gym on the ground floor of the R-Nord complex have just started. The structure will be annexed to the new headquarters of the Sports Medicine, whose construction is underway on the first floor, and both interventions will be completed in the summer.
The works of Sports Medicine concern the redevelopment of 460 square meters on the first floor (plus elevator and protected path connecting with the ground floor) where the outpatient rooms of the service will be located and 322 square meters on the ground floor, where the premises for motor activities. The entrance, without architectural barriers, will be from via Rita Levi Montalcini, on the south portico, near the parking area, respectively at number 60 for the Sports Medicine and 62 for the Rehabilitation Gym.
Compared to the intervention initially planned for the rehabilitation structure, given the recent availability of an adjoining room, an extension of 60 square meters was approved by the municipal council which will allow the creation of three new rooms: two additional ones to serve the gym to be used as a storage of sanitized equipment and storage of equipment to be sanitized, the third destined to a technical room with independent access. The availability of additional spaces, in fact, made it possible to improve the plant equipment of the rehabilitation structure.
The two interventions have a total cost of one million 170 thousand euros, of which 800 thousand from the ASL, 200 thousand of national contribution from the suburbs call and 170 thousand from CambiaMo. In detail, the value of the redevelopment of the area dedicated to sports medicine is 820 thousand euros, where five equipped clinics and four medical offices will be built, in addition to service rooms, deposits and the archive area, while the cost of the redevelopment of the space intended for the rehabilitation gym and the related service rooms amounts to 350 thousand euros.
The construction sites are managed by the urban transformation company CambiaMo spa, the implementing body also for the other public interventions envisaged in the Periferie Project, the urban redevelopment and safety program of the northern area of the city which obtained funding from the Government of 18 million euros. and which provides for total investments, public and private, for approximately 59 million euros.
The current headquarters of the Sports Medicine Service is located on the ground floor of the Sports Hall. The construction of a new headquarters is the result of the need expressed for some time by the Complex Operating Unit for the health protection of sports activities to have adequate spaces for the tasks of certification of sporting fitness, functional assessment aimed at the safe practice of motor and sports activities, prescription of physical exercise in prevention and therapy, its administration in case of need, promotion of physical activity and sport as health factors and the fight against doping. The location of the service in the R-Nord has, among others, the objective of continuing to include public activities in the building.
