Women in science. Third edition of the Tradeswomen campaign – The initiative

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, CoeffiScience wishes to announce the third edition of its Tradeswomen awareness campaign. This will begin on Monday March 8, 2021, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and will end on Friday May 28, 2021. Its objective is to make the industry and its trades better known to young girls and to them. encourage enrollment in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs.

To this end, a large number of activities are planned:
* A promotional campaign on social networks highlighting women working in the science industry as well as engineering and engineering students;
* Discounts for internship grants;
* A meeting between workers in the sector and students to better understand the profession.

Once again this year, the Tradeswomen campaign can count on the support of the sector to achieve its mission. Indorama PTA Montreal, Chimie Parachem, Sika Canada, the Center for the Study of Chemical Processes (CÉPROCQ) and Bitumar are the partners of the 2021 initiative. It should be noted that several of these partners have supported Women in the Profession since its inception.
The campaign will be able to count on the support of two co-presidents, Ms. Sanaz Safa, project manager in business development at CÉPROCQ and Ms. Martine Lessard, business partner in human resources at Sika, who both symbolize the place of women in science and diversity in industry.

Asked about the involvement of their organization, Ms. Lessard declared “We firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are added values for our company, which is why we reserve a place of choice for women who wish to pursue a career in our company. organization. We are therefore very proud to be a partner of the Tradeswomen campaign for a second consecutive year ”. A position that echoes that of the co-spokesperson “At CÉPROCQ we place great emphasis on women in research and development of chemical processes. For this reason, we are pleased to support the third edition of the Tradeswomen campaign. Sanaz Safa said.

The Tradeswomen campaign was created following the publication, in 2019, of a brief outlining a detailed portrait of the situation of women in the sector. This revealed, in particular, that women held only 17% of production jobs in the chemical and energy industry. The players in the sector therefore wish to increase their visibility with young women in order to demonstrate to future workers that they can pursue a stimulating career there. Their objective is to double the enrollment of women in programs leading to industrial careers.
