NEW YORK – A 52-year-old woman who offered to call the police when she saw a yellow cab and pedicab driver arguing on a Manhattan street ended up being punched multiple times, then spat on and insulted. from one of them, the police say.
Police said the woman noticed men arguing on Broadway on the Marriott in the heart of Midtown at around 8:00 am on Sept. 7. She offered to help and the NYPD says the pedicab driver attacked her and made statements against blacks.
The woman was not hospitalized. The New York Police Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
Police say the pedicab driver was last seen wearing dark clothes and holding an umbrella while driving.
They released a surveillance image of him (above).
