Libby Adame, a woman known as the “Butt Lady,” was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison Wednesday for the murder of Cindyana Santangelo, a Malibu-based actress who died following a silicone butt injection administered by adame. The conviction marks the first time Adame has been found guilty of murder in connection with her illegal cosmetic procedures, though she faces additional charges related to other deaths.
The case highlights the extreme dangers of seeking cosmetic procedures from unlicensed practitioners. Santangelo, known for appearances on television shows like “ER” and “Married with Children,” died in 2022 after complications from the injection. Adame, who operated without a medical license, injected industrial-grade silicone into Santangelo and numerous other clients, frequently enough performing the procedures in makeshift settings. This sentencing follows a conviction last year for the death of another client, Karissa Rajpaul, and signals a crackdown on the burgeoning black market for hazardous cosmetic enhancements.
According to the Los Angeles Times, security camera footage from 2018 shows Adame fleeing a South Gate salon as paramedics responded to another woman who later died – an incident that occurred before the deaths of both Rajpaul and Santangelo.
