Woman found in state of decomposition at home in Viana

The Sea Center, installed aboard the Gil Eannes museum ship, hosted this morning a thank-you session to the 38 lifeguards who ensured the surveillance of 13 beaches in the municipality over 96 days of bathing season.

At the ceremony, the Mayor of Viana do Castelo, the Captain of the Captaincy and the Councilor for the Environment thanked the lifeguards and the direction of the Decimal Coordination for the work carried out on the beaches of Viana do Castelo, highlighting the 960 hours of surveillance and the 16 thousand kilometers traveled by the two support vehicles.

During the bathing season, 229 occurrences were recorded, with no fatalities being reported. 125 occurrences were registered in practitioners of nautical activities and first aid maneuvers were carried out in 113 occurrences among vacationers.

There was a need to carry out hospital evacuation in 52 cases, with 14 assistance on public roads being promoted. Lifeguards have carried out 23 water rescues over these more than three months. The results obtained revealed an important work of prevention, training, dedication and awareness of the community on the part of lifeguards.

Lifeguards were responsible for the surveillance of 24 kilometers of coastline, ensuring the safety of 13 guarded beaches and 40 corners.

Once again, Viana do Castelo Municipality sported 8 blue flags on the beaches of Afife, Arda, Paçô, Carreço, North, Cabedelo, Amorosa and Castelo do Neiva

The surveillance, assistance and bathing assistance was carried out by the Decimal Coordinated Lifeguards Association, operating in conjunction with the Maritime Authority.
