Members of the Traffic in Person (TIP) department, assisted by detectives from the Narcotics Brigade department and other police units, carried out a police raid on a club in North Paramaribo in the early morning of Sunday 28 November.
There, a 36-year-old woman of Chinese descent, one Ying L., was arrested. Eighteen (18) ecstasy pills and five (5) grams of Crystal Meth “Sukru” were found in her handbag by the police and seized.
Initially, the suspected drug suspect indicated that it concerned stomach tablets. When the police confronted her with the fact that it was drugs, Ying L. at one point did not know how the harmful stuff had ended up in her handbag.
After consultation with the Surinamese Public Prosecution Service, she has been taken into custody pending the investigation, reports the police.
