Wolfsburg – VfL Wolfsburg has terminated the contract with coach Florian Kohfeldt, who was released after the end of the season. The Bundesliga soccer club confirmed a corresponding report by the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung”.
VfL parted ways with Kohfeldt one day after the end of the 2021/22 season, although he had managed to stay up with the Lower Saxony team as successor to Mark van Bommel. The separation came as a complete surprise to the 39-year-old coach. According to information from the newspaper, Kohfeldt, whose contract ran until the summer of 2023, will receive a severance payment of around 700,000 euros.
