Wolfsburg – Defending champion VfL Wolfsburg celebrated a befitting victory when the women’s soccer Bundesliga was restarted. The championship leader prevailed against 1. FC Köln 4: 0 (2: 0).

The goals for the Wolfsburgers were scored by Pernille Harder (33rd minute / penalty, 78th), Svenja Huth (45th) and Alexandra Popp (65th). Cologne’s Amber Barrett saw the red card in the 76th minute.

Like all sports leagues, the women’s soccer Bundesliga had been paused since mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic. The still undefeated VfL Wolfsburg is heading towards the next championship due to the undisputed success. The two pursuers FC Bayern Munich and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will meet on Saturday (1 p.m.).

In the evening, the 1st FFC Frankfurt continued its winning streak. The team of coach Niko Arnautis defeated SC Sand 3: 1 (2: 1) and improved to fourth place. The seven-time German champion landed the fourth win in a row. Dina Blagojevic brought the Badeners into the lead after only five minutes, Sjoeke Nüsken (11th) equalized. Laura Freisang with her 13th goal of the season (37th) and Barbara Dunst (76th) scored the other goals for the deserved victory for the 1st FFC.
